Job Description

In an environment that supports continuous improvement and under the supervision of a Manager, this employee will assist the business analysis process of a municipal GIS branch. They will participate in project assistance by developing documentation, recording and logging notes of issues and changes, and interfacing with stakeholders. They will help coordinate application testing and help develop reports to project teams, as well as help in developing and supporting specific solutions. 

Typical duties include:   

  • Participate in researching, evaluating and implementing software and systems solutions.
  • Participate in providing technical and analytical perspective relating to the implementation and maintenance of geospatial technologies.
  • Support the assessment of requirements and needs for a constellation of business areas.
  • Help in determining the feasibility for proposed solutions and effectively communicate limitations of proposed solutions to sponsors.
  • Assist with the integration of geospatial technology with various systems and related processes.
  • Analyze and report on opportunities for enhancements to existing systems, and implements solutions where possible using corporate development tools.
  • Help test and evaluate new application releases.  Assists in the development of test plans and provides guidance and updates to users.  Evaluate test results and communicate implications of results to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development of reports using corporate standard reporting tools.
  • Ensure that corporate standards are maintained and adhered to on projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation of geospatial systems and workflow processes.
  • Maintain current knowledge of geospatial technological advancements as they pertain to business systems and work processes.
  • Assist in communicating with stakeholders and report relevant information to the Manager.
  • Follow all rules and regulations as set out in the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and the City of Regina Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
  • Perform related duties as required.
